Technical Support

The Technical Support Working Group is characterised by its cross-cutting approach to different vertical groups and its use of specialised technical skills, with a view to improving the quality, robustness and operability of Gaia-X ecosystem initiatives. It is based on principles such as interoperability, reusability, reference architectures and good engineering practices, with the aim of responding to technical challenges, promoting integration and ensuring compliance with regulatory and security requirements. Some of the functions of the technical support group can be described as providing:

•    access to technical knowledge and communication between teams in a clear, fast and secure manner;

•    the use of tools, frameworks and methodologies to monitor, diagnose and optimise components;

•    the promotion of technical sharing and documentation through collaborative repositories, models and guidelines;

•    the encouragement of technical training for participants, as well as support for the adoption of best practices;

•    support for the analysis of non-functional requirements and the definition of criteria for component selection.

This group curates technical assets from different sectors/verticals, serving as a vehicle for the development and testing of components, libraries, and software that will support the new data and services economy.

The Gaia-X initiative aims to establish a reliable and transparent data and services infrastructure for Europe. This group will act proactively in the following areas:

• Technical Sovereignty: Enabling the hub to manage technical configurations and dependencies, in line with European norms and standards, ensuring the compatibility and security of solutions.

•    Interoperability: Understanding common standards, interfaces and practices that facilitate integration between systems and platforms, essential to enable different verticals to collaborate effectively, making solutions easier to integrate.

• Technical Innovation: Foster a shared ecosystem of components, provide a set of reusable technical artefacts, and enable the development of new services and proofs of concept that benefit users and improve operational efficiency.

• Operational Sovereignty: Provide alternatives and practices that strengthen the technical autonomy of organisations, ensuring that critical components can be managed within the jurisdiction and in compliance.

The group acts as a facilitator between vertical groups and partners, answering technical questions, proposing architectural solutions, validating integrations, and promoting interoperability testing, with a special focus on documentation, deployment automation, and continuous process improvement, promoting internal skills.
