Gaia-X Tech-X & Hackathon #9

Gaia-X Tech-X & Hackathon #9 will take place on 28 and 29 May 2026 in Athens, Greece, at the ZEUS – Wyndham Grand Athens Hotel. Organised in collaboration with the Gaia-X Hub Greece, managed by the Laboratory of Manufacturing and Automation Systems, the event will bring together developers, engineers and innovators from across the Gaia-X community for two days of technical exchange, collaboration and practical innovation.

The programme includes a Main Stage with presentations and interactive sessions, alongside a Hackathon where participants can create solutions, experiment with new ideas and tackle real-world challenges within the Gaia-X ecosystem.

Gaia-X is a European initiative aimed at creating a federated, secure and interoperable infrastructure for data sharing, ensuring digital sovereignty, transparency and user control.

Gaia-X was launched in 2019 on the initiative of the German and French governments and has evolved into an international non-profit association based in Belgium, with the aim of establishing a European digital ecosystem based on open standards, interoperability and data protection. The initiative defines specifications, rules and a verification framework that enable businesses, governments and organisations to share data securely, whilst retaining control over who accesses it and how it is used. Furthermore, it promotes the creation of shared data spaces across sectors — such as industry, healthcare, energy and mobility — driving innovation and European competitiveness. Gaia-X does not aim to create a new physical cloud or compete with major providers, but rather to federate existing infrastructures through open standards, ensuring transparency, security and digital sovereignty in line with European values.
