Gaia-X Summit 2024

The 2024 Summit of the Gaia-X European initiative was held in Helsinki on 14 and 15 November.

There were 400 participants from 30 countries spread across four parallel forums: Economics Theatre, Technical Theatre, Partners Theatre and the main stage, all with the aim of shaping the future based on data spaces, their federation and federation of services and their interoperability supported by security, portability and transparency frameworks. This is a phase in which all development materialises and is transformed into business and this was evident in the Keynote speakers' intervention:

- Dr Robert Habeck, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Germany

- Mr Marc Ferracci, Minister Delegate for Industry, France

- Mr Pearse O'Donohue, Director, Future Networks Directorate, DG CNECT, European Commission

- Benjamin Brake, Director General, Digital and Data Policy, German Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport

A number of stands were also available, including those of the national Gaia-X Hubs. The Gaia-X Hub in Portugal took this opportunity to present the work it has been doing in this area, especially in terms of the ATE agenda, Illiance and the working groups that exist in the Portuguese Hub, with a focus on the work of the group associated with Construction and the creation of an ecosystem in this sector. Isabel Borges was a speaker at the Economics Theatre, presenting the Digital TER-X 2050 project, a construction project with implications for the energy sector, localisation, mobility and the environment.
